It’s official: this fall will see another entry in the Arkham series with Batman: Arkham Origins. This story serves as a prequel to the other games in the series.

The announcement comes by way of yet another cover reveal for the brand new issue of Game Informer. The magazine/website has a few additional tidbits of information, and is set to host a full month of exclusive news, so pop on over there to check out the goods.

Back in February, we reported a rumor that there was going to be another Batman game later this year. Part of that rumor was a little bit of information from VG247; they had it that the next Batman title would not be developed by Rocksteady Studios.

That slice turned out to be entirely correct. Batman: Arkham Origins is being developed by Warner Bros. Games Montreal. The WB studio has full access to Rocksteady’s Arkham engine, so don’t expect too much to change in terms of pure game mechanics.

Batman: Arkham Origins is currently set to launch for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC platforms on October 25th, 2013.
