HTC posted its lowest profits ever on Monday ahead of the impending launch of the company’s most powerful handset to date. The company’s net profits clocked in at $2.85 million, Reuters said, for Q1 2013. That’s a fall far from the $362.8 million the company posted during the same quarter of 2012.
The HTC One is expected to be a win for the company, but it will need to compete for consumers against the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the upcoming iPhone 5S. The phone is certainly powerful enough to pull it off, but HTC’s bigger struggle will be fighting against the massive marketing budgets of Apple and Samsung.
