Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is Real and Packed with 80s Neon

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon was initially debuted by Ubisoft with the video you see above. Unfortunately, they chose to launch that video on April 1st, so that lead a lot of gamers to assume that it was nothing more than a prank.

Well, joke’s on us because Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is totally happening.

How do we know this is absolutely a real thing? Because the game and its description are currently sitting on Xbox LIVE’s online marketplace. Here’s the overview of Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon as per Xbox.com:

Far Cry® 3 Blood Dragon is THE Kick-Ass Cyber Shooter taking place on a bizarre open-world island crawling with evil. Welcome to an 80’s VHS vision of the future. The year is 2007 and you are Sargent Rex Colt, a Mark IV Cyber Commando who’s fighting against a cyborg army gone rogue. Your mission: get the girl, kill the baddies, and save the world. Experience every cliché of a VHS era vision of a nuclear future, where cyborgs, blood dragons, mutants, and Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens, Navy Seals) collide. Playing Far Cry® 3 Blood Dragon doesn’t require a copy of Far Cry® 3.

Seems very, very 80s esque. Flip through the epically neon screenshots in the gallery at the base of this post to get a real feel for the vibe going on here.

Personally, I much prefer DLCs that stand as complete departures from the plot line of main games. Looking at Blood Dragon today tells me that it’s not going to be at all like the original Far Cry 3, and that’s exciting.

We do not have news of a release date or this DLC’s availability on other platforms. As that comes, we’ll share it.
