BlackBerry recently announced that it will shut down its BBM Music service on June 2. Your ears won’t be left out in the cold, however, since the company has promised a 30-day trial to Rdio, a competing service that it says will satisfy the needs of music lovers.
“BBM Music service will be discontinued as of June 2, 2013,” a statement provided to CrackBerry said. “For paying customers, April is the last month that you will be billed. In May, as your BBM contacts stop using the service, songs in your playlists will begin to turn grey and will no longer be available.”
BBM music allowed BlackBerry users to choose 50 songs to create a “song profile” and then share them with BBM contacts. If you had 20 contacts with 50 songs each, you would essentially have access to a library of 1,000 songs.
