How long has it been since we first heard of BattleBlock Theater? Four years? I remember playing this game at Tokyo Game Show 2010 back when it was a simple multiplayer build. Well, the title is finally launching and The Bethemoth is celebrating with a hilarious launch trailer.
Never in a million years did I expect to to look this good based on what I had first seen. The launch trailer shows a huge improvement in details, mechanics, and all around insanity. For whatever reason The Behemoth took to making the development cycle so long, it was time that obviously didn’t go to waste. BattleBlock Theater looks like their best game to date, and that’s a lot saying these are the guys who took Xbox live Arcade to another level with Castle Crashers.
Enjoy the launch trailer and its overly cheerful Irish narrator while he free styles and raps without rhyme. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a trailer so entertaining.
BattleBlock Theater launches today on Xbox Live Arcade for 1,200 MS Points ($15). No word for release on other systems, but Castle Crashers wound up on the PlayStation 3 two years later, and a whopping four years later on Steam. I suspect this will be an exclusive title for quite some time.
