Apple CEO Tim Cook issued an apology to China yesterday after an uproar over differing warranty policies for Chinese consumers versus the rest of the world. The issue involved policies for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. China responded positively to the letter, praising Tim Cook’s efforts to change the warranty policies.
“The company’s apology letter has eased the situation, softening the tense relationship between Apple and the Chinese market,” China’s Global Times said Tuesday in a report obtained by Reuters. “Its reaction is worth respect compared with other American companies.” China’s foreign ministry also said it “approved” of the apology.
Pundits and analysts agreed that Apple was quickly able to make things smoother for its progression into the Chinese tech landscape with a quick and proactive move on an otherwise negative topic.
