The Samsung Galaxy S4 may already be speeding towards us, but that doesn’t mean the Galaxy S II has been forgotten when it comes to upgrades. Both Sprint and Alltell announced on Friday that Android Jelly Bean is coming to the handset that changed the prominence of Samsung in the mobile field.
Sprint began rolling out its Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update to users yesterday and they can upgrade either by the Simple Upgrade Tool or Kies.
Alltell said that the the Galaxy S II will be receiving version 4.1.2. The carrier is sending out to text to users that reads:
FREEALLTELMSG: Get the latest update for your Samsung Galaxy SII. Download OS Jelly Bean version 4.1.2 from your computer. Visit http://bit.ly/XHB4dp
Once you visit the link it will tell you that you need to use a Windows computer to take advantage of the Simple Upgrade Tool.
It’s nice to see that the Galaxy S II is not being left out in the cold, and while this isn’t Jelly Bean 4.2, it’s still going to be a nice upgrade. Considering this will be a jump from Gingerbread to Jelly Bean, prepare to have your mind blown.
