HTC is betting big on the One, going right for the throat of Samsung while showing Apple designers a thing or two in the process. But the company isn’t ignoring the Windows Phone platform, it seems, with a newly leaked WP8 handset supposedly on the way. It won’t take on your Ones or S4s, but it’ll fit into the mid-tier just fine.
Unearthed by UnwiredView, the device is allegedly codenamed HTC Tiara, and will essentially be a spitting image (spec-wise) of the One SV for the Windows Phone crowd. A particular design hasn’t been unveiled (neither has a price or carrier)—those hoping for a smaller One design will be disappointed—though if it looks anything like the 8X, it’ll be a pretty solid handset.
Specs include a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 4.3-inch Super LCD2 display (WVGA resolution), 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, 1800mAh battery and an 8-megapixel rear camera (1.6-megapixel front). Perhaps the most notable aspect of the Tiara, though, is the inclusion of Windows Phone 8 GDR2, which will be the second update to Microsoft’s growing OS.
Right now, UnwiredView says the Tiara will arrive sometime in May, and slot neatly in between the 8S and 8X. Carrier and price is still unknown.
