Siri in your car isn’t hard to imagine; the integration seemed inevitable, and GM has managed to seamlessly integrate the Apple assistant into its 2013 Sonic and Spark vehicles. As you can see in the above commercial (a very Apple-y one, I might add), all it takes is the push of a button.
Eyes free operation has been a hurdle ever since cellphones shot to prominence. Bluetooth headsets helped quell the problem for a time, but phones do much more today than just voice. People are constantly checking email, texts and calendar events, but this obviously poses a huge risk when barreling down the road.
It’s not quite a self-driving car, but integration such as this will hopefully stifle terrible traffic accidents because you or someone else on the road was replying to a text. The mindshare of Apple and Chevy will surely do well to push this kind of integration to the forefront, especially for the younger, first-time car owner.
Other manufacturers that have partnered with Apple include BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover, Jaguar, Audi, Toyota, Chrysler and Honda.
