In an effort to avoid instances where users unknowingly go on in-app spending sprees, Apple has added warning labels in its App Store to make the transactions absolutely clear. Absolutely, 100 percent, without a doubt clear. An app that employs the infamous Freemium model will now show a small “Offers In-App Purchases” tag just so users know what they’re getting into. It’s a last line of defense before situations like this happen.
Of course, all the warnings in the world will never 100 percent eliminate the same situations we’ve seen over the years; of people racking up lottery-size bills because of ticky-tack in-app purchases. This is just another way for Apple to warn people, but it won’t protect users from their own stupidity.
Don’t fall victim to an in-app purchase.
