Walmart currently allows customers in 70 locations to use iOS devices to scan goods and then purchase them from a self-checkout aisle using a “Scan & Go” application. The company is preparing to expand the service to 12 new markets, or a total of 130 new stores. “We want our customer feedback to dictate the experience,” Walmart senior vice president of mobile told Reuters recently. “You’ll see this roll out to more markets.”
The new markets include stores in Denver, Phoenix, Omaha, Dallas and Austin, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Bozeman, Seattle, San Jose and Portland, as well as Oklahoma, Wyoming.
Walmart has 4,000 stores in the United States, and Scan & Go only works with iOS devices for now. The company told Reuters an Android version is already in the works.
