Apple Plays Defense Following Galaxy S4 Announcement

Apple has been very quiet on the announcement front recently, almost suspiciously so, but it’s ready to do a little smack talking in the form of advertising. The company recently launched a new web site that says “There’s iPhone. And then there’s everything else.” The company says the iPhone “lets you do so many things easily.” Fair enough point, but the HTC One and Galaxy S4 add to the amount of things we can do with our smartphones, thanks to increased camera capabilities, improved software and other features such as NFC.

Apple’s site also touts the iPhone’s awards: “iPhone has received eight straight J.D. Power and Associates awards for customer satisfaction,” the site brags. “Apparently love can be measured. In eight straight studies by J.D. Power and Associates — that’s every study since the first iPhone was introduced — iPhone has been ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Consumer Smartphones.” iPhone ranked highest in the study, which reviewed the following categories: performance, physical design, features, and ease of operation.”

The iPhone deserves all of those accolades, but it’s also clear Apple feels some sort of need to play defense. Hopefully we start to see some new offense, too.
