Best Buy Leaks Specs for Mysterious Canon EOS-B

Canon might be closer to realizing a pint-size DSLR than originally thought. The very same week the company scheduled an announcement, Best Buy jumped the gun with a full-on product page for what’s being referred to as the EOS-b, also knows as EOS 100D. PetaPixel says this could be unveiled alongside another EOS camera—possibly the 70D.

Lining up with what’s been previously rumored, the EOS-b will sport an 18-megapixel CMOS APS-C sensor, a 3-inch touchscreen LCD, ISO 100-12,800, a 9-point AF system, an optical viewfinder, built-in flash, OIS and a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 EF-S zoom lens. But the most important spec of all, at least for a camera thats biggest draw will be size, is the fact that it only weighs in at 13.1oz—5oz lighter than the T4i.

When the camera does land, it’ll be priced at $800—a point of entry that might be a little on the higher end for the first-time DSLR buyer, but not bad if it is indeed as small as a mirrorless. Canon’s event is scheduled for March 22, so we’ll know soon enough.
