Is someone going to finally deliver a speech recognition system that knows what I’m saying?
This commercial is from a project IBM was working on back in 1986. It is now 2013 and I still have yet to find a 100 percent reliable speech program. When can I finally sit down at my computer and just speak my thoughts as opposed to having to take all of that annoying time typing them out?
While there are some fairly reliable systems out there, none of them are perfect, and you have to wonder if it ever will be. Is this a technology that can ever be perfected? Taking into account different accents, speech patterns and speech impediments, I highly doubt it ever will be, but I can continue to dream.
And it’d have to save me from ever having to type out webOS again… that capitalization just plays with your mind, man.
