Samsung’s known for its beautiful AMOLED panels. The company has used the screens in its Galaxy S, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note products. Still, it may gravitate towards using an LCD panel for the Galaxy Note III.

Why?

Because apparently the LCD panel provides a better experience for the S Pen, Samsung’s stylus-like device that’s included in its Galaxy Note products. It’s unclear why LCD panels are better, but sources speaking to SamMobile  said that they provide an improved experience over OLED panels. The company already uses LCD screens on its tablets, and recently invested $112 million in Sharp, which supplies panels for various companies, including Apple.

Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy S IV on Thursday during a press event, and the Galaxy Note III is expected later this year.
