Torment: Tides of Numenera Passes Kickstarter $900,000 Goal in 6 Hours

Torment: Tides of Numenera, InXile Entertainment’s spiritual follow-up to the Infinity Engine classic Planescape: Torment, has shattered its Kickstarter goal in only six hours. $900,000 was requested, and 16,000 followers were more than eager to deliver it seems.

Stretch goals have not yet been officially announced, but InExile should probably jump on those pretty quickly. One day later and they’ve doubled the amount they initially requested. Upon writing, 34,978 donors have pledged $1,914,160, and there are still 29 days left to go. Project Eternity might need to keep an eye on its record because with the power of the Planescape: Torment, I don’t see this one stopping any time soon.

This marks InExile’s second successful Kickstarter campaign. Their first campaign led to the development of Wasteland 2, which scored $3 million from gamers looking for the long lost sequel to the early RPG classic.

Looks like InExile will have their hands full with yet another game once they finish their current project, and they don’t even have to shop around for a publisher. For whatever reason, people just simply believe these guys are worth the asking price before the product is even finished.

Check out the Kickstarter page for more details. Expect stretch goals from the company in a day or so.
