When the MLB season kicks off on March 31, fans will be able to use Apple’s Passbook at thirteen different ballparks. MLB said demand for Passbook has been surprisingly high; the At Bat app from MLB.com currently allows fans to purchase tickets and then store them in Passbook. Simply scan your ticket on game day and you’re in.
The clubs supporting Passbook include: Baltimore Orioles, Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, Oakland Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals. MLB said three other teams will support Passbook soon.
The season is almost upon us. Major League Baseball obviously sees the value in Passbook, so hopefully more major sports around the U.S. will follow suit. The MLS season is just around the corner, too.
