The tech industry has long been known for its somewhat laid-back work policies, especially when it comes to reporting to an official office or cubicle. Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has instituted a new rule that reverses that trend a bit, however. The new policy requires all of Yahoo’s employees to work out of one of the company’s offices. It’s a bizarre change-up, especially since constant connectivity has made it easier than ever to work from home.

AllThingsD said the new rule will will apply to “several hundred employees” many of whom expressed outrage in response to the changes. It’s unclear why Marissa Mayer decided to require all employees report to a corporate office, or what will happen to those who can’t relocate.

Curious move, Yahoo.
