Google introduced its Photo Sphere 360-degree snapshot feature in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, and it appears that Samsung is going to build on that experience with a new piece of software called “Samsung Orb.” SamMobile said it spoke with an engineer who is working on the project who said it will provide “an almost three-dimensional viewing experience.” We’re not quite sure what that means, and our best guess is that Samsung Orb is a re-branded version of Photo Sphere.

The engineer also noted that the Galaxy S IV will have an “amazing camera.” SamMobile surmises the phone will launch with a Sony Exmor RS module, the same in Sony’s Xperia Z smartphone, and that it will have a 13-megapixel sensor. We’ve included a few photos that were allegedly shot with the Galaxy S IV camera in the gallery below, although they’re far from impressive and technically appear to have been shot with a 9.6-megapixel camera.

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S IV during a press event on March 14.
