Red HTC One Pops Up, Then Vanishes

In the flurry of HTC One news and announcements yesterday, we missed a quick update on the company’s website where there was a sample image of a red HTC One. As far as we know, however, the company only has plans to launch white and black versions of the device.

We don’t know why the red model ever appeared, or why it suddenly vanished from the company’s website, but our best guess is that it will launch later on a carrier as some sort of exclusive. We’ve seen this before with Samsung’s garnet red Galaxy S III on AT&T. We hope that U.S. carriers, if there are plans to carry it at all, let us know at the time of launch.

We’re big fans of red smartphones and it always seems silly when they launch many months after the original product.
