Rayman Legends Online Challenge Mode Coming to Wii U in April

Rayman fans and developers: Ubisoft heard your cries of anger over the Rayman Legends delay, and they are trying trying their best to make this work out for everyone, short of actually releasing the finished game when they said they would.

Following the controversial call, Ubisoft’s original plan was to release a second demo exclusively for Wii U owners to hold them over until the actual release date. That apparently didn’t sparkle with fans as Ubisoft announced today through Facebook that the second demo idea has been scrapped in favor of a full online challenge mode.

Best of all: it’s free.

This Nintendo Wii U exclusive content will come fully equipped with leaderboards as well as daily and weekly multiplayer challengers.

In the video, creative director Michel Ancel and game designer Michael Micholic also address the fans and thank them for their support.

“We just wanted to reach out and let you know how truly humbled we were by the outpouring of support from the community and fans about the announcement of the delay of Rayman Legends. It definitely hurt us to see you guys so upset by the delay.”

Rather than sit around and pout, the Rayman Legends team will take to adding enemies and levels to their game, hopefully improving the final product to the point where the financial delay was worth it. It’s nice to see that at least the development team emerged looking like heroes.

Rayman Legends will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U this September. The Wii U exclusive Online Challenge Mode will be released in April.
