BioShock Infinite and a Brief History of Columbia

Irrational Games has released a new background video for¬†BioShock Infinite done up in the style of an old classroom documentary. The clip gives a brief history of the floating city of Columbia, including its debut to the world, and asks whether or not it’s “a Modern Day Icarus?” Of course, the “Modern Day Icarus” headline […]

Irrational Games has once again placed BioShock Infinite‘s floating city of Columbia under the microscope in the second edition of their Truth From Legend trailers. Only this time, rather than examining the history of the city, fictional documentary filmmaker Alistar Bloom takes a look into the horrific Songbird long since theorized to inhabit Columbia.

What purpose does the fabled Songbird even serve to the airborne citizens of Columbia? Does it steal local children as a dreadful nursery rhyme cautiously warns? Does it protect the city from unwelcome strangers? Or does it serve an even scarier purpose of trapping the “Lamb of Columbia” within the cities tight walls and free from terrorizing the Earth below?

What’s especially haunting is the faked footage Irrational Games was able to create, stating it comes from 1912. Creepy indeed.

The trailer suggests more like it are to come in the near future, looking more and more into the latest madhouse created by Irrational Games. I hope these educational trailers are getting you as excited for the release of BioShock Infinite as much as I am.

BioShock Infinite will be released on March 26th for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
