Earlier this week, word hit these here internet tubes that The Last of Us, Sony’s exclusive post-apocalyptic survival game from Naughty Dog, was going to be delayed until June 18th, 2013.
That word came from Best Buy as they told pre-order holders that the May 7th release date was no longer valid.
Today, Sony and Naughty Dog revealed that the rumor was, in fact, completely true. The Last of Us needed more time in the oven and is now set for a June 14th, 2013 release date. Looks like Best Buy will need to adjust their listing by four days.
Neil Druckmann, Lead Game Designer at Naughty Dog, is the one who wrote the official announcement on the PlayStation Blog. It’s there that he tells gamers that The Last of Us needed just a little more time to be fully realized, and he asked for our collective patience.
Let’s give it to them. Our patience, that is.
