iOS 6.1 Exploit Lets Users Bypass Passcode Security

by Brandon Russell | February 13, 2013February 13, 2013 3:00 pm PDT

It’s been a rough existence for iOS 6.1. After a number of voice and data connectivity issues—causing Vodafone to issue a warning to iPhone 4S users about updating—one intrepid user has found an interesting exploit that bypasses iOS’s passcode lock function entirely. The user recorded a video explanation detailing how to get through an iPhone’s security, and it doesn’t take much effort. However, you do have to jump through a few hoops.

The exploit supposedly works on all devices running iOS 6.1, meaning quite a few users are susceptible. Now that this dirty little secret has been uncovered, I suspect a fix from Apple will come through very shortly.
