Analytics Data Suggests Samsung Has Nearly Half the Android Market

by Brandon Russell | February 8, 2013

Localytics, an app analytics company, says Samsung dominated the Android landscape during the month of January—it a whopping 47 percent. In fact, the Korean company held the first six spots among ten, with the Galaxy S III taking first place.

Localytics says its study took into account all devices worldwide “seen by apps with Localytics integrations.” That said, this doesn’t necessarily mean the S III was the best selling Android during the beginning of 2013, although it’s likely challenging for that spot.

The Galaxy Note II rounds out the top five, while the Kindle Fire and and DROID RAZR were the only non-Samsung devices to make a strong appearance in Localytics’ data. If you own one of the top devices, it appears you made a solid purchase.
