T-Mobile: Lumia 710 Won’t Get Windows Phone 7.8

You won’t be able to update to Windows Phone 7.8 if you’re on T-Mobile and own a Nokia Lumia 710. It’s a bit of a bummer considering the phone isn’t all that old and that other devices that were launched during the same period will get the update.

“At this time, the Nokia Lumia 710 will not receive the software update,” T-Mobile said recently. “T-Mobile is committed to enhancing customers’ experience with our devices, including providing upgrades to the latest operating systems, and T-Mobile aims to deliver software upgrades when it will provide a better experience for our customers. We’ll share additional information on upgrades for the Nokia Lumia 710 when they are available.”

It sounds like the update might not “provide a better experience,” which suggests the hardware doesn’t have the muscle to handle the few additional features included, such as the resizable homescreen Live tiles. That seems overly silly to us.
