Instagram Upgrades Web Service with New Features

Instagram announced Tuesday that it has added several features to its web client that make it more similar to the features on its mobile applications for iOS and Android. In a note to users, Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom said the focus was always on the mobile phone but, in an effort to boost the social network’s presence, it’s now adding functionality to the web.

“As of today, you can now browse your Instagram feed on the web — just like you do on your mobile device,” Systrom said. You’ll be able to browse your feed in a similar way to how you would on a phone, and will even be able to like photos or make comments. The only difference is that you won’t be able to upload photos from the web just yet.

“This product was made possible by a small, talented group of engineers and designers on the Instagram team whose goal it was to make Instagram for the web be the most simple, straightforward, and beautiful web experience for the Instagram community,” Systrom said. “We look forward to hearing your feedback, and thank you as always for your support as we build this product and community together.”
