BlackBerry CEO Says All Existing PlayBooks Will Get BlackBerry 10 Upgrade

PlayBook OS 2.0

As BlackBerry flaunted its new Z10 and Q10 handsets, the company didn’t jump into the topic of tablets. Will there be a PlayBook successor this year? There have been indications, though nothing to suggest one way or the other with 100 percent finality.

With that being said, owners of the PlayBook—I repeat: PLAYBOOK—will get a BlackBerry 10 upgrade at some point, according to BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins. A timeframe, not even a hint, was shared; it could be hours, days, months, years until that update rolls out. We don’t know at this point.

Still, the mere fact that the PlayBook will be rescued from gadget purgatory is very exciting news, and should at least tide folks over before a proper sequel is unveiled.
