By this point, I think the better question is which game hasn’t the N7 Armor been available in? Obviously, it’s available in all three Mass Effect games, but it also turned up in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Final Fantasy XIII-2, of all the weird places. Now, add Dead Space 3 to that established list of unnecessary tributes.
Not that I mind too much, though. The N7 armor has always been a slick choice.
It’s a fitting tribute to EA’s other huge space series. Dead Space 3 is traveling further and further away from its survival horror roots, and most claim that the success of Mass Effect has played a huge part in influencing EA’s decisions on some of the new game’s more controversial design choices.
Now, Mass Effect 3 straight up does affect your Dead Space 3 experience. Anyone with a save file from Mass Effect 3 will have the famous N7 armor available from the get go. No word on if it provides any stat boosts or affects the gameplay in any way. It could just be all for show, a cool aesthetic choice once again proving that the far reaches of Mass Effect make it this generation’s beacon of excellence that all series should try to match.
What other EA games should the developers create an unlockable N7 Armor for? Think it will ever turn up in a Madden game?
Dead Space 3 will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on February 5th. Check out the demo this week as well.
