Amazon Brings Instant Video Service Over to the Wii

by Brandon Russell | January 14, 2013

Just because the torch has been passed on to the Wii U doesn’t mean folks have completely forgotten about the Nintendo Wii. Case in point: Amazon has finally introduced its Instant Video service to the console, giving it that final spark of life before it sails off into the sunset.

The only negative about Amazon Instant on the Wii is the lack of HD content. Put the blame squarely on Nintendo’s shoulders for that one. Otherwise, everything you’d expect is there—and if you’re bored with Amazon’s selection, you can always hope over to Netflix or Hulu Plus.

This is wonderful news for folks who don’t own a PS3 or Xbox 360, as it gives millions of Wii owners access to one of the best content ecosystems around. At the very least, it’s a reason to fire up your dusty Wii, for old time’s sake.
