Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut Heads to PS3 in 2013

It was just a couple months back when the man behind Deadly Premonition hinted at a Director’s Cut, and the man known as Swery has made good on his promise. The release, scheduled for Q1 of 2013, will come with updated HD visuals, a new control system, and a new scenario from Swery himself, along with planned […]

SWERY Teases Deadly Premonition Sequel

Deadly Premonition was one of 2010’s big surprises. Not everyone liked it, but some of us bought it to make fun of and ended up falling in love. Last week at Gamescom, Deadly Premonition director Suehiro “SWERY” Hidetaka, had some news: The team from Deadly Premonition is working together on a new project, and a Director’s […]

Hidetaka “SWERY” Suehiro, the creator of the cult hit psychological horror game Deadly Premonition, wishes all of his fans a wonderful New Year in a personal post on his official blog as well as promising them “surprising and amazing news.” The nature of the mysterious news has yet to be revealed.

SWERY’s Deadly Premonition hold’s a distinctive world record as “Most Critically Polarizing Survival Horror Game.” Critics ranged from perfect scores to as low as a 3.0/10 from some publications. Regardless of the mixed reception, its large and loyal fan-base swear by it three years after its original release.

Further confirming its popular cult status, SWERY announced last year that he is currently hard at work on the Deadly Premonition Director’s Cut exclusively for the PlayStation 3. The original version is an Xbox 360 exclusive. The Director’s Cut will feature new content and over 100 changes and bug fixes from the original. It is expected to be released in March.

As the Director’s Cut is already well known, it is unlikely that it is the “surprising and amazing news.” He has mentioned in the past interest in following up his story, so I wouldn’t totally rule out a sequel. If his Director’s Cut is a success, returning to the dark streets of Greenvale and its awkward citizens could become reality.
