Refreshed MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Models Due in June with New Processors

Apple is allegedly gearing up to launch refreshed models of the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air in June. The industrial design of both machines will reportedly remain unchanged, although the Cupertino-based company does have plans to upgrade the processors in both notebooks. The speculation was published by DigiTimes on Friday, which spoke with sources in Apple’s supply chain.

DigiTimes said that Apple will probably drop the price of the current MacBook Air model as it begins to prepare to launch the refreshed version. This, in turn, is expected to put additional pressure on Intel and its ultrabook partners, who have long tried to take on the MacBook Air with thin and light Windows-based PCs.

Sources speaking to the news outlet estimate that Apple will ship 17 million MacBook units next year.
