Microsoft succeeded in opening 51 full-line and specialty stores in 2012, and it has already announced the first six locations for 2013.
Jonathan Adashek – General Manager, Communications and Strategy, Sales & Marketing Services Group – took to the Microsoft blog today to congratulate the company on its store launches in 2012, and to let everyone know the many more are planned for 2013.
- The Shops at La Cantera, San Antonio, Texas
- Dadeland Mall, Miami, Fla.
- Beachwood Place, Beachwood, Ohio
- Westfield San Francisco Centre, San Francisco
- City Creek Center, Salt Lake City
- St. Louis Galleria, St. Louis
No word as of yet to the exact opening dates of these six locations, but the general tone of the announcement seems to be “soon.”
Additionally, some of the “specialty” stores Microsoft opened for the holidays will be remaining open further into the New Year than was originally planned, and some of them will become full-line stores thanks to the success they saw.
It sounds like Microsoft has some big plans for retail, and that can’t ge anything other than good news for the industry as a whole.
