Sony’s Yuga Phablet to Launch as Xperia Z

Remember the Sony Yuga that leaked a few days back? The device will allegedly hit the market with “Xperia Z” branding.

We already know that the phone will likely offer a 5-inch screen with a 1080p resolution, similar to that on the HTC DROID DNA, as well as a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, a 12-megapixel camera, an HDMI-out port, 2GB of RAM and Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. The latest reports also suggest it will be dust and water resistant.

We’re still not sure when the device will launch, although our best bet is that we’ll see it during the Consumer Electronics Show in early January. If it doesn’t surface there, we’ll likely see it during Mobile World Congress in February. What are your thoughts on a phablet from Sony? Do you think it can take on the Galaxy Note II and the DROID DNA?
