Bummed you own a Windows Phone handset but wont receive the Windows Phone 8 update? We come with good news… if you own a Samsung device. The South Korea phone maker allegedly confirmed that it will push Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7.8 update to its older devices. What does that mean for you?

The good news is that you’ll be able to customize your home screen with the new user interface. That means you can choose between three icons sizes (small, medium and large). We also imagine Microsoft is tossing in the new theme colors and several other features, although it hasn’t fully detailed what’s included in the update.

The bad news? Samsung didn’t say when the update will arrive, although Microsoft itself has confirmed it will launch in early 2013. We’ll keep you in the loop as soon as we find out more.
