I’m just going to go on the record here: I like the new creativity retailers are using to court consumers this holiday season. eBay had a clever hook, giving away free Bliss foot massages for people to enjoy as they sat back and browsed online, and now it’s a brick-and-mortar’s turn to go out-of-the-box: Gap‘s hooking people up with some actual personal help for the holidays.
Gap has joined forces with TaskRabbit to give stressed-out holiday shoppers a hand. Starting December 8 through January 1, eight Gap locations in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City will be offering $25 TaskRabbit gift certificates for purchases of $75 or more.
Want someone to gift wrap all those snowflake sweaters? Hang your lights? Put together a piece of IKEA party furniture? Pet sit your dog while your out hitting the sales? No problemo. TaskRabbit’s pre-screened, background-checked minions can take on the chores you won’t or can’t do, and that $25 credit makes it dirt cheap or even free (depending on the task).
Here’s how it works: Once you snag a voucher, you can redeem it online, or in person at the San Francisco store at 890 Market Street or the New York City location at 122 Fifth Avenue store. There will be a concierge desk there every weekend while the promotion lasts.
Taskrabbit’s no stranger to marketing pushes like this. It last partnered up with Pepsi to promote Pepsi Next last October in a contest for 200 free hours of services.
