Dead Space 3 Screenshots – Now You’re Never Alone

Dead Space 3 (4)

Man, the thought of wrapping up a busy gaming holiday season was nothing more than a wishful fantasy. Just around the corner, the winter and early spring of 2013 already have a batch of highly anticipated games lined up. Luckily, the winter closes well into March in Japan, so I’ll have a good excuse not to jump out into the frozen air, unlike poor everyday working man Isaac, the star of one of the marquis games in the line-up, Dead Space 3.

The unfortunate Isaac is once against finding himself in the thick of a situation I think he would prefer to be far away from. If the constant threat of undead abominations, the deadly vacuum of space, and exploding machinery are not enough, Isaac must now contend with a frozen wasteland and a new partner who doesn’t look like the most trustworthy being of the lot.

EA has just released a new batch of screenshots which fleshes out the situation a bit more. Nothing too original here, but I find Isaac coming into direct contact with other unmasked characters a little unnerving. The isolation of Dead Space and Isaac’s constant separation from the ones he’s trying to help are the true driving forces of anxiety in these games. The monsters are just the icing on the cake.

Of course, co-op is going to totally destroy the sense of cold endearing loneliness, so it’s just something to get used to I guess. It’s still going to be a great game. Hopefully the solo play will still bring about a feeling of terrified loneliness.

But something about that screenshot just seems…off, and it’s not the N7 armor the soldier with the gun is wearing. I’m calling Captain Crew-Cut in front of him the true antagonist of the game though.

Check out the screenshots and art below. Dead Space 3 will be released for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on February 5th.
