In less than one month of availability — a month of Surface, iPad mini, Nexus 4, etc., etc. — Microsoft has sold over 40 million Windows 8 licenses. That’s a pretty impressive figure considering how crowded the month has been, and in particular how different the software’s touch-focused interface looks. In terms of upgrades, Windows 8 is outpacing Windows 7, which could indicate that consumers are more interested in Microsoft’s Metro-tiled future than originally thought.
Couple the good news with the company’s announcement that it sold 750,000 Xbox 360 consoles during the Black Friday weekend, and we’d say that Microsoft is doing pretty well for itself. What about Surface sales? It would be very interesting to see how reception has been thus far, particularly with one analyst observing less than ideal sales.
