Apple’s senior vice president of Internet software and services, Eddy Cue, has reportedly fired the manager of Apple Maps, Richard Williamson. If you remember, another Apple executive, Scott Forstall, was recently asked to leave the firm after apparently refusing to sign an apology letter related to the botched iOS 6 Maps release. Tim Cook ended up signing the apology instead.
Bloomberg said that Cue is currently looking for expert mapping information from TomTom NV and other firms to fix its current iOS 6 Maps solution. Apple has not yet confirmed Williamson’s exit.
