Nokia Here Maps Nabs Fourth Spot on iTunes Top Free Apps List

Nokia’s Here Maps has been out for less than 24 hours and it’s already the fourth listed free application in the iTunes App Store. Impressive work, Nokia. More notable, however, is the clear desire for a good mapping application for iOS devices.

I’ve found the application to be pretty quick during the time I’ve been using it, and I love that it has transit directions and other features that aren’t fully baked into iOS 6 Maps yet. Still, I’ve found that Apple’s Maps are better at finding points of interest. There’s a restaurant near me here in New York City that has been around for decades, for example, and Apple Maps finds it just fine. Nokia Maps can’t find it though, which is frustrating.

How has your experience with the application been so far? Are you happy to have a few free features that weren’t available before?
