A number of Google Voice users are reporting that the service is sending SMS messages out from random numbers. According to multiple help forum posts, outbound texts are shown as originating from a completely different Google Voice number — and every subsequent message sent out generates a new number as well. This anomaly, obviously, isn’t conducive to holding conversations.
It’s not so widespread that every user is affected — we tried sending messages and didn’t experience the bug. Have you noticed any issues? The Verge said it reached out to Google; we’ll report back as soon as we know more.
