T-Mobile has confirmed that the upcoming LG Nexus 4 will not support the carrier’s nifty Wi-Fi calling feature. This may not be too much of a surprise to most of you, considering Google’s Nexus devices receive no carrier input, and that neither the Nexus S, Nexus One, or Galaxy Nexus support it.
Some were hoping, however, that the Nexus 4 may be an exception given that T-Mobile will be selling the handset directly. But that won’t be the case, according to TmoNews, who have confirmed the situation with the carrier.
There could be a silver lining to this news, however. As noted by Android Central, it could mean that T-Mobile’s Nexus 4 ships with the same untouched, unlocked firmware that’s installed on the SIM-free Nexus 4 from Google Play. That means that T-Mobile handsets may also accept SIM cards from other networks, which is great if you’re going to be taking your handset out of the United States.
Are you disappointed the Nexus 4 won’t get Wi-Fi calling?
