American Red Cross Donations Being Accepted Through iTunes for Hurricane Sandy Relief

apple-itunes-red-cross-donationIt’s been a heck of a week for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy, and relief efforts are likely to last well into next year. But the American Red Cross is already embarking on its journey toward reversing the insurmountable damage that’s been done, and you can help by making a donation through Apple’s iTunes. This isn’t some ploy on Apple’s part to earn a few extra bucks. The company is simply facilitating donations — from $5 to $200 — with 100 percent going directly to Red Cross relief here in the U.S. Apple posts a paragraph-length disclaimer aimed at those planning to donate, explaining that iTunes Store credit cannot be used, and tax benefits may not apply. In any case, if you want to help out those affected by the Frankenstorm, consider parting with a few dollars before buying your second or third latte.
