Arkane Studios and Bethesda Softworks have announced the first round of DLC for Dishonored: Dunwall City Trials. Set to release in December for $4.99 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, Dunwall City Trials adds a new mode to the game with 10 challenge maps that will “test and track your combat, stealth, and mobility skills,” according to Bethesda’s blog post.
The different maps include an arena battle with enemies coming in waves, a drop-assassinations challenge and a time trial map, among other things.
Having just finished Dishonored myself, this looks like it will be the perfect follow-up to the game. Dishonored was a rare case where the story and mechanics were equally engrossing, and challenge maps are a great way to try out the techniques I didn’t get to use while going through the game avoiding violence. I’m looking especially forward to the drop assassination map.
Bethesda also mentioned that the second and third content packs will be coming in 2013 and that both will have story-driven missions. Daud, the leader of the Whalers, will feature prominently into the second pack; Bethesda is keeping quiet on the story behind the third.
