Google is preparing to introduce an overhaul to its Wallet platform, and the Internet behemoth currently accepting invites to the mysterious project. Details are currently light, though there’s a possibility the technology could find its way to iOS and “other devices,” indicating Wallet will go multi-platform at some point.
As Gizmodo points out, the idea of Google Wallet on iOS could mean that the system won’t rely NFC, which has been a technology that has yet to fully take off among the industry. Apple has introduced an NFC-less solution of its own with Passbook, although that system is still reliant on users having their physical wallets on hand.
Has Google come up with a way to push Google Wallet forward? It would seem so. Perhaps we’ll learn more on Oct. 29.
