Samsung will reportedly stop selling LCD panels to Apple, ending a long partnership between the two companies that has started to sour following multiple lawsuits.
“The display panel manufacturer plans to completely cut its years-long business ties with Apple as it believes its American partner is no longer a cash generator due to the iPhone maker’s stiff supply-chain management structure,” The Korea Times said Monday. An unnamed executive told the news outlet that it can’t supply Apple with “huge price discounts” and that it has already stopped shipping a portion of its displays and that it will officially stop the partnership next year. Samsung has another partner to fill Apple’s spot, however.
The South Korea-based company said its partnership with Amazon is growing and that it will provide displays for Amazon’s tablets, which will hedge the loss the company will see once it stops providing displays to Apple.
