Microsoft Confirms Surface RT Tablet Won’t be Delayed Until November 2 in U.K.

Shortly after Microsoft began accepting pre-orders for its new Surface RT tablet, customers in the United Kingdom received an email that notified them their order would be delayed until November 2 — a whole week after the October 26 launch date. It was unclear what was causing the delay, but some reports suggested that Microsoft’s new tablet was being held by U.K. customs.

The company has now confirmed, however, that the device won’t be delayed in the U.K., after all, and that the email was simply sent out in error to international customers. Brits should now expect to receive their devices on October 26 just like everyone else.

Microsoft said in a statement: “All customers should expect their devices by the original date given when orders were placed. Microsoft is following up with customers to confirm their original shipping date remains unchanged, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

This is going to be great news to Surface RT customers in the U.K. who got their order in as soon as Microsoft began accepting them. Rather than waiting another week, they’ll receive them the same day as U.S. customers.
