Hulu will work fine on Windows 8 as is, but the company announced today that it will also launch a new, redesigned application that will take advantage of the newer features inside Windows 8.

“Our team has been heads down building a gorgeous new Hulu Plus app that is optimized for the Windows user interface,” Hulu senior product manager Patrick Srail said Monday. “The app will be available to the general public on October 26th, but those of you with early access to Windows 8 can check out the Hulu Plus app now.” So what can you expect?

Srail said Hulu added a tile-based view for easily finding shows to watch.  It also offers touch support, so you can tap an image for more options. “Gently slide it down and up” – called “selecting” – a menu of options will appear and let you share, add and play anything you’d like,” Srail explained. New episodes will also pop up on the live tile, so if you see a thumbnail of Family Guy you can tap it and jump right into the video. There are plenty of other features, including snap view, so if you have Windows 8 now feel free to give it a whirl.

Oh, and Srail also said Hulu Plus will launch as a preloaded app on “select” Sony and Acer Windows 8 tablets.
