Sony has this morning announced which of its Xperia smartphones will be receiving the much-anticipated Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade. It has included nine devices released during 2012, but none of those released during 2011 are on the list.
Here’s the full list of handsets that will get Jelly Bean:
- Xperia T
- Xperia TX
- Xperia V
- Xperia S
- Xperia acro S
- Xperia ion
- Xperia P
- Xperia go
- Xperia J
There are some notable absentees from that list, including the Xperia U, the Xperia miro, and the Xperia tipo — all of which were released this year; while none of the handsets released in 2011 or earlier will be upgraded past Ice Cream Sandwich. That’s got to be disappointing news for those with high-end Xperia handsets that are more than capable of running Google’s latest mobile platform.
The Jelly Bean upgrade will begin its rollout during the first quarter of 2013 for the Xperia T, the Xperia TV, and the Xperia V, Sony says. However, it’s unclear at this point when the other devices on that list can expect to receive the same treatment.
Will your Sony smartphone be upgraded to Jelly Bean?
