Ok, we’re pretty much certain at this point that Google’s going to announce a 32GB Nexus 7 during its press event that will be taking place just over a week from now. The latest leak, pictured above, shows a Nexus 7 box with a 32GB label. Sure, that’s not enough to solidify any rumor, but we’ve also seen leaked images of the device itself. The good news? Reports suggest the 32GB model could cost as low as $199, the current price of the 16GB option that will be phased out, and Google may drop the 8GB model to just $99. That’s a steal folks, no matter how you look at it.
If this does happen, and we believe it will, the ball will be in Amazon’s court. The company’s Kindle Fire HD costs $199 and we don’t see it dropping the price anytime soon because it’s breaking even on the tablet. So, will Amazon’s ecosystem prevail or will Google win the budget tablet battle?
